My L.A. Diary #4: The Springs - The Urban Oasis in Downtown Los Angeles

I love nothing more than EXPLORING. Exploring, exploring, exploring. I am in one of the most exciting and lively cities in this world right now and I do take advantage of it :)

So this time, my friends and I have gotten the hint to visit this new hipp place in Downtown L.A. in the middle of the art district. Aaand we were more than thrilled to be there. What a cuuuute place?! We all fell in love at first sight. No really!
The area, the building, the cunstruction, the concept, all the cute little details, the atmosphere, the people,.....everything ON POINT!!

So what is it?
THE SPRINGS combines health and pleasure at the same time.
They provide 100% organic raw vegan cuisine, joyous libations, holistic wellness treatments, integrated yoga and movement programming. Yes you heard right. You can eat and do yoga at the same time :D AND they also do sell some urban clothing there, too. Just awesome.

My L.A. diary #3: Running into Chiara Ferragni ^^

Well, I guess I gotta love L.A. for things like these even more .

Just randomly ran into Chiara Ferragni (www.theblondesalad.com) at The Springs Restaurant (post coming soon) in DTLA the other day. She is really cute and nice. We had a quick chat about the area and some good coffee places around the area.

PS: For those who doesn't know who she is: Chiara is one of the biggest Fashion Bloggers out there (3Mio IG followers). So as a blogger myself, that was pretty cool.

Stay tuned for more posts.

Summer/Fall transition

Jep, fall has meanwhile also arrived to L.A. :D , which is good, because it was insanely hot during the last 3 months (including sleepless nights and almost unable to move anywhere). Well, fall here doesn't necessarily mean the fall I know in Switzerland. There, it can be warm for sure, but in general it is quite chilly during fall. I am talking about between 55 and 64°F (13-18 Grad) during the day. Well, fall in L.A. means; it is not extremely hot during the day anymore and it gets fresh as soon as the sun goes down, so you will most likely need a light jacket. I guess that's about it ^^. So most of the time it still is very nice and warm. Anyway, I guess it's time to pack out your pants and boots ladies (ok I'm still wearing a cropped top, but as I mentioned; it really IS still very warm outside ;))
Ok enough.
Byeee
And thanks for stopping by

Boyfriend Jeans from XXI (actually they are skinny jeans, but I bought them oversized which makes them to Boyfriend Jeans lol

My L.A. diary #2 - RUNYON CANYON

Dear Followers

Here is my 2nd „what do I have to see or do whilst in L.A.“ for you guys.

Alrighty, so:

-Do you like to hike?
-Do you like to get in shape quickly?
-Do you need to wind down from a stressful day and escape the hectic city life?
-Do you wanna enjoy the most stunning and beautiful views over the whole city?
-And do you wanna do something really „hollywoodish“?

Than WELCOME to RUNYON CANYON <3

What about it:

Runyon Canyon Park is a 160-acre (65 ha) park in Los Angeles, California, at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains. There are numerous hiking trails throughout the whole park. There are several ways to enter Runyon Canyon. But the most common one is at the very bottom at Fuller and Vista Streets I assume. There are three routes to hike Runyon Canyon from down there—>
Runyon Canyon Road (easy), the Star Trail (medium), and the Hero Trail (difficult). I normally take the Star Trail and then on my way back the Road. But once I accidentally decided to turn right instead of left and all of a sudden I found myself walking down the Hero Trail. Yeah wow, now that’s what I call steep (lol). It was a little bit of a fight but cool to kind of have done it, haha.
It will take you about 20-25mins up if you are eager to just hike up without any break. If you are more like me, pausing here and there, taking pictures, sometimes talk to other people…then it will take you between 30-45min J
It also offers free daily yoga classes with professional instructors (down at the park, right after you entered the gate).
Oh and you might also see a celebrity here and there ;) Cause as I said…it’s a wonderful place to spend your time, which also a celebrities does enjoy :D. It’s an atmosphere that anyone can enjoy.

I promise you, you will be absolutely amazed and will take tons of pictures :D

So here, I collected many pictures for you guys, unedited, it’s exactly what you will get J

ENJOY!

First stop, first reward :) (Until here it's not really climbing, only Walking)
First steps...

That's the HERO trail I was talking about ^^
What a view <3

And now that's the main reward guys!! ENJOY!!!

And if you have the chance, then go right before sunset. It is MIND-BLOWING!!

Theses Pictures are taken with my iPhone and there's no filter at all!

BIRTHDAY GIRL =)

(First of all, sorry for the poor quality of these pics. But I just had my iphone with me that day)

ANYWAY :) So this was the first birthday I didn't spent home with all my friends and family. I miss them a lot, especially on a day like this. BUT I have such awesome people out here as well and I am very thankful for each and one of them. I am blessed to have such great people in my life!
So yeah this is the first time I celebrated my birthday in the CITY OF ANGELS. That was very special to me. I came here 2 months ago and it's been very crazy ever since.
Everyday here is a journey, and I am so curious where this journey will lead me.

So here are a few pics from my bday. I am so happy I could celebrate it with my very good friend from Switzerland. Her birthday was on the 12th and mine on the 13th, so that was the perfect get together :)

My L.A. DIARY #1

OHHH DEAR…!! I can't believe it’s been 2 months since I updated my blog for the last time. I am truly sorry, but the last 2 months were just so intense, busy and hectic, and so this is the reason I’ve been this absent.

But I am back now, I've settled in a little  and so I decided, as I’m staying in L.A., to bring this wonderful and so exciting city closer to you. Especially for those of you who doesn’t know L.A. well or may be not at all. L.A. has so much to offer and I will write and also post pictures about cool places, nice restaurants, etc. Of course I also still do post personal style pictures…but I definitely wanna share my experiences here with you guys, as some of you might want to come here soon and it’s always nice to get some hints, right?

So let’s start with this one here.

This is a farmers market (daily) on Fairfax & 3rd street. Personally, I think it’s more of an open-air food court than really a farmers market but still, I like it J It is not veery big but it is nice to just grab something to eat, buy fresh fruit and meat, tasting a few dishes, a little shopping (souvenirs and also some clothing) and just chill for a while.

Another cool thing about this place is, that “The Grove” is just right there, too. What a cute place!! A beautiful area where you can do shopping (Topshop, Michael Kors, Nordstrom (more high-end) but also forever21, H&M, (more affordable) etc), strolling around, sit down and have a wonderful lunch or dinner at The Cheesecake Factory or Maggiano's Little Italy, take a look at the “dancing” fountain (choreographed to the music of artists such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin) enjoying the live musical entertainments.and just soaking in all those wonderful vibes there.

Do the shopping during the day and enjoy the romantic atmosphere at night ;-)

An absolut MUST-DO while your stay in L.A.!!

Enjoy the pictures =)

Ready to pursue my big dream ZURICH - LOS ANGELES

Wow wow wow! I waited for this moment for almost 10 months. And the day has almost arrived. This is pure craziness. Somehow it seems I counted down every single month (October, November, December, then finally new year.....) but now that I look back, time kind of flew by. Kind of.

But first - PACKING! I hate it. Hate it hate it hate it, especially in such a case. In a few days I’m about to take off. Leaving my country for a new future in Los Angeles (well, hopefully ;) ) How do you pack? With this limited amount of space? Yeah, I’m a woman, a typical woman - a lot of clothes, tons of shoes and bags etc, great. But let’s just face it, whatever, LOL.

But before I’m leaving I would just like to share some thoughts with you, because this…is a huge step for me.

I believe in destiny. That no matter how bad things seem, that you’re where you’re supposed to be. There’s a reason WHY. And all of the negative things that have happened to you, they make you into the person you are today.
The last 10months were intense (break up of a long term relationship, moving 4 times,.....). I learned a lot about life and especially about MYSELF. I had my ups and I had my downs. But whether ups or downs...who was always there was my family, and my friends!I don't know where I would be without them. I had soo many ups and that's thanks to my wonderful and crazy people haha ;-). Those last 10months make me appreciate them even more and that's what I'm trying to say; nothing beats family and real friends - good people, real people, sincere people, people you can trust and rely on.
They gave me so much love and energy, good conversations, great laughter, sooo much fun, awesome times and unforgettable moments. Thank you thank you thank you! <3 :) So. Important -> Surround yourself with the right kind of people.
I'd like to point out one sentense I read in a goodbye letter to me: "good friends know all your stories, best friends were part of it". This sentense almost made me cry, because if you think of it....it's nothing but the truth.
So, from all the negative experience I’ve made in my life, I learned from them and they made me the strong, independent and ambitious person I am today. And they make me appreciating all the good and great moments in life even more.
I wake up HEALTHY every morning and this is NOT for granted (the people who know me know what I’m talking about). And this is exactly why I try to make the most out of it and follow and pursue my dreams.
In that case it’s going to L.A. and trying to make my way out there. I don’t know where I’m going to be in 6 months from now, I simply don’t know it. And that’s also the exciting part of it :D
I will try it and just having trust in my gut. Where ever I might be in 6, 12 or 18 months..it’s part of my journey.

Where’s an end, there’s a new start :)

I’ve been asked by a lot of people if I’m not very scared to leave my country, my family and friends? And that it takes a lot of courage?
YES IT DOES! But if you want something so bad – you go for it! And having fears and being scared or nervous is a part of it and I guess just normal.
Yes I am scared, yes I am nervous, especially because I am a very realistic person, but I really try to not let overweight those feelings. I try to stay as realistic as possible yes. But it’s also important that the good vibes, the good energy and a positive attitude take lead. Right?

As I said, I have faith and will make my way, somehow or other :)
I'm blessed with so many things in my life,
I'm a veeery happy girl :)

So what to say now?
READY- SET - GOOO
Bring it on!!!
I am ready!
Tschüüüüüss
Bye bye Switzerland (for now)...................

:)
Love, Steffi

Favorite black crop top

This is definitely one of my favorite crop tops. Such a nice and soft material, the cut very playful.
Simple and sassy.

To it I wear some ripped jeans and as I often like to do a cool shirt around the hips. Simple as that :)
Happy week loves

Do your very own "Destroyed Jeans"

Well, this is what happened last Saturday.
I was at a friends house chilling with 2 of my friends and we were kind of bored. What to do on a Saturday night? Not in the mood to go out. Well, why not doing your own destroyed jeans? Hah! Awesome idea.
So my friend did that before and as I was wearing a pair of jeans I found quite boring anyway, I decided to jazz em up :D

It’s actually very easy. What do you need? -> A scissors and a tweezers (Pinzette) and that's about it. Here is my picture tutorial (sorry for the bad picture quality. As it was a very spontaneous action I only had my iPhone with me).

Mark it first (where do you wanna cut them)
Then cut it there...

A pair of jeans has a certain structur. On the one hand there are horizontal lines and on the other hand there are vertical lines. What we are doing now is to pull out the vertical threads with the tweezers. It might be a little hard to find a start, but as soon as you got this it's easy and you just pull them out, one by one.

here you can see how my friend pulls out a thread

...one by one.....

tadaaaa
And now have fun doing it on your very own ^^.
